The purpose of this review is to explore the dynamics of suicide mortality rates in Ukraine during an ongoing armed conflict between 2014 and 2015. Suicide mortality data were obtained by reviewing annual analytical releases from the State Service for Emergent Situations of Ukraine and annual release of Russian Federal Service of State Statistics. Suicide mortality in mainland Ukraine and in the Crimea region demonstrated a mild decrease, whereas suicide mortality in the regions directly involved in the armed conflict demonstrated a prominent decrease. The results of this review support Durkheim theory. The limitation of this review includes general concern about quality of data at time of armed conflict in the country.

The aim of the study is to explore the way Greek junior high school students perceive school climate as a protective factor against the adversities due to the ongoing economic recession. The randomly selected sample consisted of 746 students from junior high schools (Gymnasia) in the broader area of Athens. The California School Climate Survey (2009), the Questionnaire of Subjective Well-Being/Youth Form (Grob et al., 1991) and the Economic Crisis Difficulties Questionnaire (LSP, 2011) were used for data collection. The findings indicated the existence of statistically significant relations between the effects of economic recession, subjective well-being and school climate. School climate moderated the interaction between economic recession and students' subjective well-being. Results provide a better understanding of adolescents' needs during unsettling times contributing to the development of effective evidence-based intervention programs in school communities.

Η μελέτη των παραγόντων που σχετίζονται με την ψυχοκοινωνική προσαρμογή των παιδιών και των εφήβων, έχει προκαλέσει τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες το ερευνητικό ενδιαφέρον των μελετητών στο χώρο της σχολικής ψυχολογίας. Οι σύγχρονες θεωρητικές προσεγγίσεις εστιάζουν στη διαμόρφωση ενός θετικού κλίματος στο σχολείο που θα προάγει τόσο τη μαθησιακή διαδικασία όσο και τη προσαρμογή των μαθητών στη σχολική ζωή, αλλά, και στο ευρύτερο κοινωνικό περιβάλλον. Επιπλέον, λαμβάνοντας υπόψη τις ιδιαίτερες κοινωνικοοικονομικές συνθήκες, οι οποίες λαμβάνουν χώρα τα τελευταία χρόνια στη χώρα μας, γίνεται όλο και πιο επιτακτική η ανάγκη να διερευνηθούν οι παράγοντες που συμβάλουν στη θετική ψυχοκοινωνική προσαρμογή του ατόμου.Σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας είναι η διερεύνηση ατομικών και συστημικών παραγόντων αναφορικά με την ψυχοκοινωνική προσαρμογή, το σχολικό κλίμα και πώς αυτά σχετίζονται με δημογραφικά χαρακτηριστικά και δεδομένα σχετικά με τις επιπτώσεις της οικονομικής δυσχέρειας, καλύπτοντας μέρος ενός ερευνητικού κενού στον ελλαδικό χώρο.Το δείγμα αποτέλεσαν 746 έφηβοι μαθητές της Α, Β και Γ Γυμνασίου από σχολεία της ευρύτερης περιοχής των Αθηνών. Στους έφηβους συμμετέχοντες χορηγήθηκαν ερωτηματολόγια που διερευνούσαν το επίπεδο της ψυχοκοινωνικής τους επάρκειας, την υποκειμενική αίσθηση ευεξίας, τις αντιλήψεις τους για τις ψυχολογικές, εκπαιδευτικές και οργανωτικές διαστάσεις του σχολικού κλίματος και τις πιθανές δυσκολίες που συνδέονται με την οικονομική δυσχέρεια όπως τη βιώνουν στο οικογενειακό και στο σχολικό πλαίσιο. Τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνας έδειξαν ότι, σύμφωνα με τις αντιλήψεις των μαθητών, η οικονομική δυσχέρεια φαίνεται να σχετίζεται με την ψυχοκοινωνική τους προσαρμογή. Παρ’ όλα αυτά, οι εν λόγω δυσκολίες δεν προβλέπουν το σχολικό κλίμα, το οποίο έχει μία θετική επίδραση πάνω στην κοινωνική και συναισθηματική προσαρμογή των μαθητών. Επιπλέον, φαίνεται να αμβλύνει τις αντιξοότητες στη σχολική ζωή που απορρέουν από την οικονομική δυσχέρεια. Τα ευρήματα της εν λόγω έρευνας αναδεικνύουν το ρόλο του σχολείου ως προστατευτικού παράγοντα στη ζωή των μαθητών που δύναται να προάγει την ψυχοκοινωνική τους προσαρμογή εν μέσω δύσκολων κοινωνικοοικονομικών συνθηκών. Επιπλέον, συζητούνται και προτείνονται κατευθυντήριες γραμμές για την προαγωγή της ψυχικής υγείας των παιδιών και των εφήβων και του θετικού σχολικού κλίματος, οι οποίες μπορούν να αξιοποιηθούν τόσο από ειδικούς όσο και από εκπαιδευτικούς για την ανάπτυξη προγραμμάτων πρόληψης και παρέμβασης στη σχολική κοινότητα.
