Alexander Friedenstein, Mesenchymal Stem Cells, Shifting Paradigms and Euphemisms

Abstract: Six decades ago, Friedenstein and coworkers published a series of seminal papers identifying a cell population in bone marrow with osteogenic potential, now referred to as mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs).
