Altered Behaviour Associated With Autism in a Mouse Model of Fragile X Syndrome Treated With Bacteroides Fragilis BF839

Abstract: Background: Fragile X syndrome (FXS), tightly related to the morbidity of Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a common hereditary syndrome often associated with retardation of intelligence. Some key symptoms of ASD such as anxiety, cognitive impairment and social anxiety disorder are also the predominant features in FXS. Children with ASD are often performed with gastrointestinal symptoms. According to the existing research, with the treatment with Bacteroides Fragilis BF839, mice with ASD will have better perf… Show more

“…The investigators found a significant attenuation in TNF-α concentration compared to those treated with placebo [144]. Other human studies also observed probiotics' effects on quality of life, reducing psoriasis severity, preventing relapses, improving mineral uptake in the gut and downregulation of pro-inflammatory markers [145].…”

“…FXS is the most common genetic cause of ASDs; however, the consideration and application of microbiomal supplementation as a therapeutic approach is relatively new. One study showed Bacteriocides fragilis supplementation can improve ASD-like abnormal behaviors including social and cognitive deficits in Fmr1 KO mice ( Lin et al, 2020 ).…”

“…It has been shown that the severity of psoriasis can be signi cantly improved by correcting the imbalance of gut microbiome, which may be a potential way of psoriasis treatment [44][45][46]. Therefore, exploring the relationship between gut microbiome and psoriasis vulgaris will help to reveal the pathogenesis of psoriasis and nd some innovative therapies.…”
