Altered heart rate variability depend on the characteristics of coronary lesions in stable angina pectoris

Abstract: Objective:Dysfunction of cardiac autonomic nerve system is considered as one of risk factors for coronary atherosclerotic heart disease. Heart rate variability (HRV) has been used to study the correlation between damage of coronary artery and dysfunction of autonomic nervous system. We hypothesize the correlation between damage of coronary artery and dysfunction of autonomic nervous system by HRV among subjects with stable angina. Methods:A 236 subjects who diagnosed as stable angina pectoris by elective corona… Show more

“…8 Many studies have linked CAD to reduced HRV even in the absence of heart failure or previous MI. 2,9 Theoretically, coronary revascularisation in CAD patients by percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) could restore the normal autonomic balance, which can be proved and quantified by HRV measurement.…”

“…and premature mortality globally, 1 and cardiac autonomic dysfunction is one of the risk factors for CAD. 2 Heart rate variability (HRV) is the physiological phenomenon of variation in the time interval between heartbeats and is one of the most promising non-invasive diagnostic methods for assessing autonomic dysfunction.…”

“…Recently, Feng et al ( 1 ) published an article entitled “Altered heart rate variability depends on the characteristics of coronary lesions instable angina pectoris” in Anatol J Cardiol, where they have shown that the parameters of heart rate variability (HRV) are associated with the severity of coronary lesions in patients with stable angina pectoris. Noninvasive detecting the severity of coronary lesions in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) including stable angina pectoris is a very important problem.…”

“…Noninvasive detecting the severity of coronary lesions in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) including stable angina pectoris is a very important problem. The authors have used time domain parameters and have not used frequency-domain indices in their study ( 1 ). However, the time and frequency domain indices of HRV complement each other for heart autonomic control assessment ( 2 ).…”
