Alternatives to opioid protocols in Colorado emergency departments reduce opioid use without changing reported pain

Abstract: Objective: The objective of this study was to determine whether instituting an alternative to opioids (ALTO) protocol significantly reduced opioid use in emergency departments (EDs).
