An original technology named HNO3 pressure leaching has been proposed by our team to leach Al from coal gangue and fly ash. Although the preliminary separation of Al and Fe had been achieved during leaching, a small amount of Fe impurity was still unavoidably dissolved into the leach liquor. To obtain pure Al2O3 during subsequent pyrolysis, it is imperative to synchronously remove Fe3+ during the crystallization of Al(NO3)3·9H2O. Herein, the phase equilibria of the Al(NO3)3–Fe(NO3)3–H2O(−HNO3) system at 25–40 °C and 0–8.12 mol kg–1 of HNO3 molality were investigated. The results indicated that the ternary system was a simple cosaturated type consisting of an immutable point, two univariate curves, and two crystallization regions. Notably, the solubility and crystallization region of Al(NO3)3·9H2O were barely impacted by acidity, while the opposite was true for Fe(NO3)3·9H2O. This finding was instructive for the crystallization of Fe(NO3)3·9H2O from the liquor with high Fe and low Al. Moreover, a high crystallization yield could be obtained at low temperatures. Finally, an appropriate crystallization procedure was provided. This study is expected to provide basic data and theoretical support for the crystallization and separation of mixed nitrates containing Al and Fe.

Aims To elucidate the dominant effects of long-term restoration of different woody plants on the reconstitution of multiple environmental and biological factors in vertical soils of coal mining areas. Methods Soil physicochemical properties, soil enzyme activities, soil ionophore, microbial community structure, and soil metabolite distribution characteristics and interaction networks were analyzed at different vertical depths after long-term restoration (20 years) of four woody plant species in the coal mine area. Results (1) Phytoremediation increased the soil urease, sucrase, and acid phosphatase activities by 4.23–8.82, 4.52–8.29, and 3.28–5.26 times at 10 cm depth. It also reduced the active element content in the soil, and alleviated the mine toxicity stress of S, Fe, As, Pb, and U in the soil. (2) The Richness index and Shannon index of soil microorganisms increased by 4.77–23.81% and 2.93–7.93% after long-term restoration of woody plants, and the bacterial ecological niche was broadened. The microbial community structure shaped by different woody plants was highly similar, but the community similarity decreased with the increase in relative distance at vertical depth. Soil Cu, Fe, Mo, Na, and pH were important influencing factors of community structure for Sphingomonas, Pseudarthrobacter, Nocardioides, and Thiobacillus. (3) Woody plant restoration increased the abundance of soil metabolites (10 cm depth), and induced metabolites such as Organooxygen compounds, Carboxylic acids and derivatives, and Fatty Acyls as the main microbial regulators. Conclusions Woody plants have different patterns of environmental and biometabolic factor configurations for different depths of soil during mine restoration.

A new method for preparing monodisperse silica powder was introduced in this paper. Monodisperse silica powder was synthesized by sol–gel method using sodium silicate prepared from acid residue after alumina extraction from coal gangue leached by NaOH. The dissolution rate of SiO2 was determined according to the potassium fluosilicate volumetric method (GB/T 27974‐2011). The SiO2 dissolution rate reaching 92.74% when dissolution temperature calcined at 90°C for 90 min, the liquid–solid ratio was 8 ml/g, and the concentration of NaOH solution was 30%. The maximum specific surface area of silicon powder reaching 519m2/g when the concentration of sodium silicate was 0.6 mol/l, ethyl acetate concentration was 8%, anhydrous ethanol concentration was 5%, and the reaction time was 90 min. X‐ray fluorescence (XRF), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) showed that the content of SiO2 in the powder was 99.28%, the particle size was between 30 ~ 300 nm, and more than 90% of the particle size was below 100 nm.
