“…A similar result has been reported previously by McEvoy, (1992). Nevertheless, a study by Gerlach reported the successful use of minocycline for histomorphometric bone labeling (Gerlach et al 2002). A possible explanation for this discrepancy might be that a higher concentration was used and that the minocycline preparation and adminstration were performed differently.…”

“…These results agree with previous studies that recorded diminished lamellar bone formation in the femur of DM rats and may suggest an association between the DM condition and the decreased number and function of osteoblasts (25, 26). The alveolar crest region was the only region that did not show a significant difference in the MAR and the BFR parameters among the two groups; this may be attributed to the unique nature of this region exhibiting a highly intensive bone remodeling process, especially during the tooth eruption that decreases towards the base of the socket (27); however, further studies are needed to elaborate the detailed pattern of bone growth at the alveolar crest region.…”

“…It is easy to change the experimental conditions of rat incisor eruption using, for examples, the resection of the root or odontogenic region (Berkovitz and Thomas, ; Moxham and Berkovitz, ), transections at different levels (Berkovitz and Thomas, ; Berkovitz, ; Pitaru et al, ; Merzel et al, ; Merzel et al, ), mechanical interruption (Melcher and Correia, ; Michaeli et al, ; Omar et al, ) and injection of drugs that act on collagen in the periodontal ligament or on cell proliferation (Tsuruta et al, ; Michaeli et al, ; Chiba et al, ; Moxham and Berkovitz, ; Taverne et al, ; Teng et al, ; Burn‐Murdoch, ; Gerlach et al, ).…”
