An application portal for collaborative coastal modeling

Abstract: SUMMARYWe describe the background, architecture and implementation of a user portal for the SCOOP coastal ocean observing and modeling community. SCOOP is engaged in the real-time prediction of severe weather events, including tropical storms and hurricanes, and provides operational information including wind, storm surge and resulting inundation, which are important for emergency management. The SCOOP portal, built with the GridSphere Framework, currently integrates customized Grid portlet components for data… Show more

“…It was a half-day workshop, with more than 75 attendees, consisting of oral presentations of the top five ranked papers, and a poster session for all the papers accepted for the workshop. The 'Best Paper' award was given to the top ranked paper, 'An Application Portal for Collaborative Coastal Modeling' by Zhang et al [19]. A second workshop, GCE-06, will be held at SC06 in Tampa [20].…”

“…The papers in this issue are organized as follows: the top five papers are presented first, starting with the highest ranked paper by Zhang et al [19,27,34,32,31]. These are followed by papers addressing development in portal frameworks [24,7,22,21,29] and technologies [30,23], and application portals [28,33].…”
