“…By shortening the ssDNA sequence to the possible minimum with sufficient affinity, Kwon et al [191] managed to achieve a similar high affinity of the ssDNA aptamer to the target, as Jeong et al [208] reached with the RNA aptamer. The lowest LOD was obtained by Jahanbani's team [236] with the constructed impedimetric aptasensor II, followed by the amperometric one of Benvidi et al [234]. Directly thereafter (before other developed electrochemical aptasensors) follows the colorimetric aptasensor of Tang et al [218] and the SERS based one of Li et al [212] which achieved similar sensitivity.…”

“…Since tetracycline detection is very important in food safety, plenty of research has been devoted to the development of sensitive, selective, and specific aptasensors on the basis of different sensing methods, like colorimetric [ 195 , 211 , 212 , 213 , 214 , 215 ], surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopic [ 216 , 217 ], FAM-labelled and label-free [ 218 , 219 , 220 , 221 ] fluorometric, photoelectrochemical [ 208 , 222 , 223 ], electrochemiluminescent [ 93 ], impedimetric and amperometric electrochemical [ 41 , 224 , 225 , 226 , 227 , 228 , 229 , 230 , 231 , 232 , 233 , 234 , 235 , 236 , 237 , 238 , 239 ] methods. Among them, the proposed electrochemical aptasensors by Jahanbani’s team [ 236 ] showed ultrahigh sensitivity towards tetracycline.…”

“…Screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs) applied in electrochemical (EC) biosensors offer an enormous wealth of advantages, including exceptional sensitivity, miniaturization capacity, relatively low cost, less time-consuming detection process and reproducible results with a small volume of sample needed for each measurement and feasibility for large scales of production (Wan et al, 2015;Zhang et al, 2016). Moreover, modification of the surface of SPEs with nanomaterials (NMs), particularly gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), can considerably enhance their performance (Roushani and Shahdost-fard, 2015;Benvidi et al, 2016). Herein, we report on the fabrication of a novel signal-off electrochemical aptasensor based on anti-BPA aptamer conjugated AuNP-modified SPCE, which can offer precise, reproducible, and extremely sensitive detection of minimum levels of BPA in real samples.…”
