An Arduino-based data acquisition system for soil mechanics experiments

Abstract

Data acquisition hardware systems are necessary to record variables measured by instrumentation devices, however, commercial data acquisition systems are expensive. This paper aims to present and discuss the design, development and testing of an Arduinobased low-cost data acquisition system built with open-source hardware and software for using in reduced-scale physical models for soil mechanics experiments. The obtained results revealed that the data acquisition system performed consistently, similar to commercial products.
