An Artificial Neural Network-Based Pest Identification and Control in Smart Agriculture Using Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: Despite living in a rural country, farmers in India face several challenges. Every year, they suffer significant losses due to agricultural insect infestation. These losses are primarily the result of inadequate field surveillance, crop diseases, and ineffective pesticide management. We need cutting-edge technology that is constantly evolving to maintain control over such major concerns responsible for output reductions year after year. Wireless sensor networks address all of these issues; in fact, wireless se… Show more

“…Pest monitoring by using wireless sensor networks has been implemented to study the insect behaviour on five crops viz., Potatoes, Wheat, Rice, Corn, Tomato and its associated insect pests (Singh et al, 2022). Pests and diseases are a big menace to food security, timely and correct finding and remedy is essential to avoid the loss in crop production.…”

“…Acorde con Singh et al (2022), se necesita tecnología de punta en constante evolución para mantener el control sobre estas plagas responsables de las reducciones en la producción año tras año. La IA mediante las redes de sensores inalámbricos abordan todos estos problemas; de hecho, la tecnología de red de sensores inalámbricos se está convirtiendo rápidamente en la columna vertebral de la agricultura moderna de precisión.…”

“…IoT has grown rapidly as it employs a variety of technologies and is employed by a wide range of applications. The number of IoT application domains and, as a result, connected devices is rapidly increasing [5]. Small-to medium-scale arable farming uses spatially enabled mobile sensing technology to provide accurate assessment of field conditions in the various soil layers, nutrient levels, and general ambient environmental conditions.…”
