An Assessment On Max Weber's Political Theory

Abstract

Max Weber shared his thoughts on people who would choose politics as a profession for the first time in 1919 at the University of Munich Liberal Left-Free Students' Union, in a conference titled "Politics as a Profession" with the student body. The pupose of this study is to explain the thoughts of Max Weber, who is a famous German sociologist, economist and thinker, about politics in the last period of his life, in the context of political responsibility, state, bureaucracy, sovereignty (authority) and ethics. The qualifications and working principles of civil servants, as well as the attitudes and behaviors they have to adopt in the political arena, which were also put forward by Max Weber, have an important place in our study in terms of the fact that they have never been mentioned before. In this sense, Max Weber revealed the qualities he believed should be in a politician, especially in the context of responsibility and belief ethics. It also revealed that civil servants should remain impartial and carry out their duties by avoiding the feeling of resentment.
