An environmentally friendly route for grafting of molybdenum carbonyl onto a diaminosilane-modified SBA-15 molecular sieve and its catalytic behaviour in olefin epoxidation

Abstract: A simple route has been established for grafting molybdenum carbonyl onto the surface of a diaminosilanemodified SBA-15 molecular sieve. The successful grafting of the molybdenum carbonyl species onto diaminefunctionalized SBA-15 was evident from FT-IR studies. The resultant molybdenum-carbonyl-complex-grafted SBA-15 (SBA-DA-Mo) materials show promising activity for the epoxidation of various olefins with good conversion (90-95%) and the formation of epoxide as the major product. The catalytic activity remains… Show more

“…The 29 Si NMR spectrum of SBA-15 is similar to those of heterogenized samples because the chemical environment of silicon remains unchanged upon the metallocomplex grafting. 5860 The above studies confirmed that the introduction of Ru-TPP on the surface of functional molecular sieves does not affect the framework environment.…”

“…Higher hydrophobicity of the catalysts was considered to increase the compatibility between the catalysts and the reactants. Baskaran et al [69] constructed a facile protocol to graft molybdenum carbonyl onto diaminosilane-modified SBA-15. Generally, the introduction of molybdenum oxo-species on SBA-DA-Mo led to promising reactivity for alkene epoxidation.…”

“…Adsorption isotherm of SBA‐15 materials exhibit (Figure ) a sharp uptake in the relative pressure ( p/p 0 ) range between 0.6 and 0.8. due to multilayer capillary adsorption with capillary condensation of nitrogen and is characteristic of type IV isotherm. A well‐defined hysteresis loop of type H1 was evident according to the IUPAC classification, which is associated with the capillary condensation in open‐ended cylindrical mesopores …”

“…Synthesis of Functionalised SBA 15 (SBA‐AM): The calcined SBA‐15 support (6.5 g) was pre‐activated at 200 °C in an air oven, followed by drying in a vacuum, in a round‐bottomed flask to remove the physisorbed molecules. Subsequently, a pre‐determined amount (3 mmol/g of solid support) of (3‐aminopropyl) trimethoxy silane was introduced to the activated SBA‐15 support material . The mixture was refluxed in dry toluene (30 mL/g of support) for 24 h under N 2 atmosphere.…”
