An Essay on ‘Fracto-Resonant’ Nature of Life

Abstract: Fractals are built from patterns generated from immense complexity within the resonant frequencies that connect and tune the universe. Play of such frequencies would result in the exchange of energy and coupling of informational systems at various levels and scales. The present essay serves as a small ride into life's association with such phenomenon. At a fundamental level communication happens via process called 'resonance' (in energy terms), and this in turn manifests at a physical (or material) level as se… Show more

“…Living cells are bio-machineries that work with a combination of electrical and bio-chemical processes supported by the underlying quantum mechanics. The mind being a subtle and nonphysical system is known to have evolved as a result of certain organization and a pattern of interaction in the associated physical systems (Reddy and Pereira, 2016b). This way one cannot limit the happenings of mind to multi-cellular structures like the brain alone.…”

“…Here, mind acts as a centralized operating system of various experiences and memories that can be accessed. Emergence of such a centralized operator has many evolutionary advantages associated with one's survival, foraging and interaction with the environment (Reddy and Pereira, 2016b).…”

“…This leads us to think of consciousness not as a localized phenomenon associated with specific parts of the brain or body but as a global construct resulting from certain functional order and level of activity. This is inherently communicated and encoded in specific pathways following which consciousness at a subjective level pops up (Edelman & Tonon, 2000;Cleeremans, 2005;Greenfield & Collins, 2005;Tononi, 2005;Feinberg & Mallatt, 2013;Grandpierre et al, 2013;Webb & Graziano, 2015Reddy & Pereira, 2016d). To explain this possibility in detail a novel Subject-Object Model (SOM) of consciousness is developed (see Fig.1).…”

“…This is reason why the Nature embraces fractal signatures in designing and fabricating different life forms (at physical and functional levels: Mandelbrot 1983;Reddy and Pereira 2016a, b). While in search, for more fundamental theories of consciousness, it looks obvious that one would attempt to craft such elusive concept by using fractals (Gardiner et al 2010;Gardiner 2013;Reddy and Pereira 2016b). It is natural that such thought would reflect in mind; because we are surrounded by fractal systems both inside and outside; indeed, we are beings made from fractals themselves at various levels (Reddy and Pereira 2016a).…”
