An evaluation of recent GOCE geopotential models in Brazil

Abstract: An evaluation of recent GOCE geopotential models in BrazilSeveral global geopotential models based on Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) data have been published in the last two years. Some of these models use combinations of different satellite missions, while others use only GOCE data. This paper presents the evaluation and analysis of each approach using GOCE data in the Southeast of Brazil. Two assessments have been made. We compared the geoid heights derived from GOCE-based m… Show more

“…The evaluations of the models from the first to third releases were published by [70] using the terrestrial gravity data in Norway and [71] over the Earth by means of gravity gradients from the GOCE gradiometer data. There are also other studies that validate the GOCE-based GGMs over different regions using various terrestrial data sets including [72] (in Sudan), [73] (in Brazil), [74] (in Hungary) and [68] (in Germany). Reference [75] provides the recent results of regional validations of all releases over different countries.…”

“…Neste trabalho, o comportamento regional foi determinado pelo conjunto de dados gravimétricos da cidade de São Paulo e de parte da região metropolitana (Figura 6) (Guimarães et al, 2013), cerca de 100 km ao redor da CUASO. Na área da CUASO, o regional pode ser definido como uma superfície suave e contínua, com tendência NS, variando entre -68,5 e -69,5 mGal.…”

“…We have to mention here that several studies concerning the validation as well as the accuracy assessment of GOCE-based GGMs have been performed in different regions of the world by different research teams, e.g. [14] [15] [16] worldwide; [17] [18] in Germany; [19] in Central Europe: [20] in Poland; [21] in Norway; [22] in Brazil; [23] [24] in Sudan and [25] in Saudi Arabia.…”
