An Expedited Predictive Distributed Antenna System Based Handover Scheme for High-Speed Railway

Abstract: Abstract-High-speed train has drawn considerable attention and become one of the most preferable conveyance mechanism. Each year the manufacture corporations reach a higher speed record which is expected to attain 1000 km/h by 2021 using hyperloop one technology. Moving at such a high speed results in a high handover (HO) rate which makes it challenging for high speed railway (HSR) mobile wireless communication to preserve steady link performance. Employing distributed antenna systems (DASs) along with the two… Show more

“…Moreover, some network architectures were proposed to establish communication links with reduced handover delays. The distributed antenna system (DAS) is commonly used in HSR communication scenarios, in conjunction with RoF, to overcome handover challenges and is considered to be among efficient approaches [132]- [134]. In this architecture, several RAUs are associated to the same control unit (CU), and are interconnected in a ring topology through optical fiber.…”

“…For simplification and without loss of generality, each logical cell has fixed number of antenna units [32]. These antenna units transmit data with the same frequency, and the 2 International Journal of Antennas and Propagation mobile terminals do not need to hand over in the same logical cell.…”

“…Adoption of bioinspired techniques has been seen in the work of Tian et al [29] to ensure adherence to the quality of service standard in presence of heterogeneous networks. A predictive approach for handover for assisting seamless communication by the mobile relay was discussed by Ali et al [30] considering a case study of railways. The next section outlines the research problems.…”
