Vitrified bond cubic boron nitride (CBN) grinding wheel specimens with controllable porosity were prepared by regulating the pore former dextrin content and varying the forming pressure, and the performance of the grinding camshaft was studied. The porosity of the specimens increases with the increase in dextrin content, and decreases first and then increases with the increase in the forming pressure. The grinding experiments show that the dextrin content is negatively correlated with the grinding force and grinding temperature, while the grinding force and grinding temperature of the specimens increase and then decrease with the increase in the forming pressure. When we observe and measure the grinding surface of the specimen and workpiece, we see that the surface roughness of the specimen after grinding is smaller than that before grinding. In addition, the greater the porosity of the specimen, the rougher the surface of the workpiece after grinding.

This paper focuses on the development of composite materials based on the Fe–Ni–Cu alloy with hollow corundum microspheres (HCM). The composites were produced by means of powder metallurgy: by mixing initial metallic powders in various types of mixers followed by hot pressing. Compact samples of Fe–Ni–Cu + HCM composites featured high relative density and microstructure homogeneity. The introduction of HCM leads to a decrease in strength to 30 % (from 1125 MPa to 800 MPa at a HCM concentration of 15 vol.%). However, resulting composite materials retained high plasticity. It was established by the micromechanical modeling method that such composites have stress concentration regions not at the interface between HCM and the matrix, but on the inner surface of microspheres. On the contrary, the adjacent matrix volume around HCM features stress relaxation and «unloaded» regions formed. HCM introduction into the matrix based on the Fe–Ni–Cu alloy increases wear resulting from friction on M300 concrete by 50–170 % with a grain size of 70–100 μm and by 160–325 % with a grain size of 100–140 μm. During friction, HCMs act as a reservoir for debris (concrete particles), so the matrix surface remains free of wear products and directly contacts the material processed. The heavy wear of composites with HCM makes them promising for use as a binder in diamond tools designed for the dry cutting of concrete and reinforced concrete.

(1) The alloy material 20CrMnTiH is widely used in gear manufacturing, but difficult to process, and its quantity (efficiency) and quality (surface quality) are generally negative correlation indicators. As a difficult but realistic problem, it is of important practical significance to explore how to efficiently grind high-precision low-carbon alloy gear workpieces. (2) Firstly, the pixel method was applied to analyze the grinding principles and explore the grinding parameters—the grinding wheel speed and grinding wheel frame moving speed—as well as the feed rate, which impacts the grinding indicators. Secondly, based on the ceramic microcrystalline corundum grinding wheel and the 20CrMnTiH gear workpiece, controlled experiments with 28 groups of grinding parameters were conducted. Moreover, the impact curves of the grinding parameters on the grinding indicators—the grinding efficiency, grinding wheel life, and surface roughness—were obtained by the multiple linear regression method. Finally, the multi-objective optimization method was used to comprehensively optimize the grinding process. (3) Compared with the traditional grinding process, under optimized grinding parameters, the 20CrMnTiH gear workpieces have a lower surface roughness and a longer grinding wheel life, and require a shorter time to achieve grinding accuracy. (4) The grinding experiments showed that the grinding parameters are linearly related to the grinding indicators. The optimization results show that the precision, efficiency, and economy of the 20CrMnTiH gear grinding process have been improved via the comprehensive optimization of the grinding parameters.
