An improved 24‐pulse rectifier for harmonic mitigation in more electric aircraft

Abstract: To increase the power rating and reduce the cost and complexity of a multi-pulse rectifier (MPR), it is well known that the pulse number must be increased. In some practical cases, a 12-pulse rectifier (12PR) is suggested as a good solution considering its relatively simple structure and low weight. However, 12-pulse rectifiers cannot technically meet the standards of harmonic distortion requirements for some industrial applications, and therefore they must be used along with output filters. Two cost-effective… Show more

“…The passive harmonic injection method uses entirely passive devices with no additional signal source and high immunity to interference. Two parallel cost-effective 24-pulse rectifiers are suggested in [16], which use two passive harmonic injection circuits at dc link. In [17,18], two series 24-pulse rectifiers with various passive voltage harmonic injection circuits are proposed.…”

“…Therefore, passive PMCs have been considered by many researchers. To tackle the problem, the passive PMCs have been proposed for upgrading 12 pulse rectifiers (12PRs) in [18][19][20][21][22][23]. In [18][19], the pulses have been increased from 12 to 24, and in [20][21][22][23], the researchers have increased the number of pulses in the 12PR to 36 pulses.…”
