“…Current published data suggest that the 4CMenB vaccine has limited, if any, effect on the carriage of MenB [112]. Although the 4CMenB vaccine is reactogenic [113], recent surveillance data do not support initial concerns with respect to increased risk of Kawasaki disease and seizures [114]. The 4CMenB vaccine has the potential to offer protection against meningococci belonging to other serogroups.…”

“…Active AEFI surveillance studies often use linked data; exposure information (vaccination) from vaccination registry are linked with prespecified outcomes of interest identified from electronic records using computerised International Classification of Diseases (ICD) diagnosis codes . Moreover, studies also suggest that vaccine safety signals can be tracked using proxy measures of AEFI occurrences, such as postvaccination health care utilisation/medical attendance rate …”

“…In retrospective1 and prospective2 audits, Nainani  et al (n=38) and Kapur et al  (n=35) demonstrated significant increases in emergency department (ED) attendances (0.8% of the local vaccinated population2), investigations (venepuncture in 38%1 and 62%,2 lumbar puncture (LP) in 22%1 and 17%2) and hospitalisations (72%1 and 51%2 (for post-immunisation fever). Murdoch  et al ’s3 self-controlled case series estimated an additional 1440 hospital admissions per year in the UK following 4CMenB introduction.…”
