An Investigation for Minimizing the Wear Loss of Microwave-Assisted Synthesized g-C3N4/MoS2 Nanocomposite Coated Substrate

Abstract: Mechanical components frequently come into contact against one another causing friction that produces heat at the contact area and wear of the components that shortens part life and increases energy consumption. In the current study, an attempt was made to optimize the parameters for the pin-on-disc wear tester. The experiments were carried out in ambient thermal conditions with varying sliding speeds (0.5 m/s, 0.75 m/s, and 1.0 m/s) and applied loads (5 N, 10 N, and 15 N) for pure molybdenum disulfide with 9%… Show more

“…On the pin‐on‐disc tribo tester (Model: TR‐20LE PHM‐400, DUCOM Instruments), tribological tests were performed at sliding speed of 750 mm/s and applied load of 15 N that followed ASTM G99 standard [30]. The disc and pins used in the test had diameters of 62.5 mm and 10 mm, respectively.…”

“…Thioacetamide and sodium molybdate dihydrate and graphitic carbon nitride were mixed in a lab beaker with 70 mL of deionized water in molar ratios: 1.91 : 0.89 : 1, as this was the optimized ratio found in earlier work [30]. These reagents were thoroughly mixed with the deionized water by a 3 hours sonication procedure, and this mixture was then exposed to magnetic stirring for another hour at room temperature, Figure 1.…”
