An MPEG-7 scheme for semantic content modelling and filtering of digital video

Abstract: Abstract:Part 5 of the MPEG-7 standard specifies Multimedia Description Schemes (MDS); that is, the format multimedia content models should conform to in order to ensure interoperability across multiple platforms and applications. However, the standard does not specify how the content or the associated model may be filtered. This paper proposes an MPEG-7 scheme which can be deployed for digital video content modelling and filtering. The proposed scheme, COSMOS-7, produces rich and multifaceted semantic content… Show more

“…Naturally, the framework and its implementation may be extended to include a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) that will support an IoT topology on the ground with live aerial imaging in the sky [37][38][39][40] for the holistic management of a smart farm. Such a holistic management approach to smart farming adopts systems thinking to managing resources and provides a support framework for adapting to, and balancing, the four basic ecosystem processes whose successful management is crucial for sustaining a heathy farm: the water cycle, the mineral cycle which naturally includes the carbon cycle, the energy flow, and the community dynamics, i.e., the relationship between all organisms that are integral for the health of any farm ecosystem.…”

“…Player Profiles store the player models which contain a player's in-play status as illustrated in Table 3. The profile is modelled using the XML-based standard MPEG-7 (ISO/IEC 2002, 2003, 2005 as it facilitates a detailed, structured representation within multimedia systems such as digital games (Agius and Angelides 2004;Angelides and Agius 2006) and also provides facilities that support distributed player profiling. Score is calculated through the Scoring service which, using the recorded player gameplay, determines and feeds the player's score back into the game.…”

“…To realize the hanging basket content model in MPEG-7 we follow COSMOS-7 [3] and use two MPEG-7 top-level types, both of which are descended from the ContentAbstractionType abstract type, which itself is descended from the ContentDescriptionType abstract type:…”
