Abstract:In patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) during obstructive events, episodes of hypoxia and hypercapnia may modulate the autonomic nervous system (ANS) by increasing sympathetic tone and irritability, which contributes to sympathovagal imbalance and ultimately dysautonomia.
