“…In addition, CdZnSeS-pATP QDs could be used as fluorescence probes to detect the total acidity of paper-based relics in a nondestructive way by using optical fibers [ 59 ]. To the best of our knowledge, this is a nondestructive fluorescence assay based on QDs to measure the total acidity of paper-based relics for the first time.…”

“…To achieve high sensitivity, one of the fundamental issues is enhancing the interaction between the probe light and the MIP sensing interface. In our previous studies, we developed a serially grafted optical fiber–waveguide–fiber (OFWF) sensing system, which can efficiently utilize the EW of the noncladded waveguide as a sensing probe and realized a spectral LOD of ∼10 –12 g/mL in the detection of rhodamine B (Rh B) based on the fluorescence spectra . Moreover, to further enhance the probing EW, the waveguide was covered with a high-refractive index Ta 2 O 5 nanolayer, which dramatically increased the EW intensity of the waveguide by 2–3 orders of magnitude and afforded a LOD of ∼1.0 × 10 –15 g/mL in fluorescence sensing …”

“…A neoteric approach for sensitivity enhancement employed by Akhtar's group includes growing ZnO nanoflowers on a glass slide coated with silver nanofilm for ultrasensitive detection of insulin amyloid [178]. Sophisticated assemblies such as dual-colour TIR fluorescence detecting platform [179] as well as optical fibre-polymer waveguide-optical fibre sandwich [180] set up have facilitated small-molecule detection down to picomolar levels.…”
