An Optimal Tracking Performance of MIMO NCS with Quantization and Bandwidth Constraints

Abstract: This paper presents an optimal tracking performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) networked control systems (NCSs) with quantization and bandwidth constraints. In this study, we simultaneously consider the encoding-decoding, quantization and bandwidth of communication channel. The optimal tracking performance of NCSs is obtained by spectral factorization technique and partial fraction. The obtained results demonstrate that the optimal tracking performance is influenced by the nonminimum phase zeros … Show more

“…Until now, several useful bandwidthsaving strategies have been proposed. First of all, quantization is thought to be a passive bandwidth-saving method, as much redundant data are discarded in the signal transformation from analog to digital [7][8][9][10]. In [7], a quantized event-driven control approach is proposed to reduce the amounts of data for each transmission.…”

“…A new dynamic quantization strategy is presented to prevent saturation of the quantizer with external disturbances in [9]. In [10], an optimal tracking performance of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) NCS with quantization and bandwidth constraint is proposed to realize the optimal tracking performance and the bandwidth-saving as well. It is worth noting that quantization can improve the bandwidth utility to some extent.…”

“…The associate editor coordinating the review of this manuscript and approving it for publication was Heng Zhang. communication network constraints, such as the best tracking performance of networked control systems, and the performance limitation depends on the essential characteristics of the NCSs and communication parameters. In past years, several scholars have achieved excellent results in the performance limitation about NCSs [22]- [26]. In [22], the modified tracking performance limitation of MIMO NCSs under packet dropouts has been obtained.…”

“…The solution fits in the field of Networked Control Systems (NCSs) [1,2,3,4], which is a prolific control area that addresses control scenarios where different devices share a common communication link. The use of a shared communication network introduces some advantages like cost reduction, reconfigurability, and ease of installation and maintenance, but also some drawbacks such as the possible occurrence of network-induced delays [5,6,7,8,9,10], packet dropouts [11,12,13], packet disorder [14,15,16], and network bandwidth constraints [17,18,19]. In this work, the drawbacks considered in the network are time-varying delays and packet disorder.…”
