An Overview of MANETs Simulation

Abstract: Mobile ad hoc networks have inherently different properties than traditional wired networks. These new characteristics present different security vulnerabilities and this paper provides a detailed classification of these threats. Threats exist to a mobile ad hoc network both from external nodes unauthorized to participate in the mobile ad hoc networks, and from internal nodes, which have the authorization credentials to participate in the mobile ad hoc network. Internal nodes giving rise to threats can be furt… Show more

“…Entre los artículos hallados en la literatura están [1,4,5,6,8,9], los cuales abordan el tema del análisis/evaluación de herramientas software de simulación de redes. En [4] por ejemplo, se presenta una comparación detallada de varias herramientas de acuerdo a unos criterios definidos (visualización, ventajas, desventajas, estadísticas…).…”

“…are used in most research works. The reason is that it has the advantages of high efficiency and low cost [2]. However, the research of mobile ad-hoc network faces a series of challenges, which mainly reflects in radio channel characteristics, the complexity of the network composition and the mobility of the nodes in the network.…”

“…User interface issues are seldom covered, except for topics like simulation [11,31], quality of service [26,29] and deployment [32]. Emergency response is sometimes put forward as a suitable application area for ad hoc networks [10,24], and there has also been conducted work on network solutions targeted at emergency response [6,13,21], but most of this work also focus on network issues.…”
