An SAR-ISAR Hybrid Imaging Method for Ship Targets Based on FDE-AJTF Decomposition

Abstract: In high-resolution spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR), imaging of moving ship targets is strongly influenced by ships' complex three-axis motions, so that imaging results are fuzzy and unfocused. Yet scattered and moving information on ship targets is wholly contained in the complex image data. This paper proposes a novel SAR and inverse SAR (SAR-ISAR) hybrid imaging method to improve imaging effects, using this complex SAR image data on ship targets, and based on frequency-domain-extraction-based adapt… Show more

“…Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has excellent imaging ability, which can obtain high-resolution image under bad weather conditions. The research on SAR includes imaging, target detection, target recognition, time-frequency analysis, and many other aspects [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. The research on Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) of SAR started around 1990 [9][10][11].…”

“…Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is an active sensor that transmits a beam of electromagnetic radiation in order to extend human ability to observe properties of the surface of the earth [1]. As an effective means for remote sensing, SAR is capable of providing high resolution images and videos for target surveillance under any weather condition [2][3][4][5][6][7]. With the development of SAR, robustness to missing raw data raises concern due to sparse and irregular sampling in SAR raw data caused by new mission requirements, sensor geometries, jamming, interference, and so on [8].…”

“…Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has become an indispensable means for remote sensing, which is competent to provide high resolution images and videos for monitoring various targets under any weather condition [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. With the desire for higher resolution, the future task of spaceborne SAR challenges the development of SAR imaging algorithms [8].…”
