An SLA-based resource virtualization approach for on-demand service provision

Abstract: Cloud computing is a newly emerged research infrastructure that builds on the latest achievements of diverse research areas, such as Grid computing, Service-oriented computing, business processes and virtualization. In this paper we present an architecture for SLA-based resource virtualization that provides an extensive solution for executing user applications in Clouds. This work represents the first attempt to combine SLA-based resource negotiations with virtualized resources in terms of on-demand service pr… Show more

“…Based on SLAaaS, she also identified and discussed research challenges to support dynamic control of cloud elasticity to meet cloud QoS and SLAs. Kertesz et al [27] proposed a resource virtualization architecture that incorporates automated SLA-based metanegotiation, meta-brokering, brokering and deployment of cloud resources on-demand. Reese [36] discussed important quality attributes of current cloud service offerings namely availability, reliability, performance, security, disaster recovery, and legal and regulatory issues.…”

“…In [18] an architecture for the provisioning of on-demand virtualized services based on SLA is proposed. The authors define it as "the first attempt to combine SLA-based resource negotiations with virtualized resources in terms of on-demand service provision", and represents a first step in the line of automated SLA-aware Clouds systems.…”

“…Moreover, the delay experienced by individual VMs changes with the number of other concurrently active VMs and with their traffic patterns. In [10], the authors used the SLA approach to propose an architecture for resources provisioning in the context of a virtualized cloud. The paper mainly addresses issues related to negotiation and brokering for virtual resources provision.…”
