An Uncommon Endobronchial Tumor: A Case Report

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Lipomas are the most common lipomatous tumor, accounting for nearly one-half of all benign lesions. Endobronchial lipoma is a very rare benign tumor. The most frequent clinical presentation is shortness of breath caused by airway obstruction. The computed tomography (CT) with a homogeneous mass with fat density not enhanced by intravenous contrast material is considered diagnostic but the definitive diagnosis is obtained by bronchoscopy and biopsy. The treatment of choice is endoscopic resection, although open resection is sometimes required.
