Analysis of a wall cooling system using a heat pump

Abstract: a b s t r a c tIn this study, a vertical ground source heat pump wall cooling system that belongs to the Yıldız Renewable Energy House at the Davutpaş a Campus of Yıldız Technical University was studied both experimentally and theoretically. The principal objective was to perform a system analysis to determine the parameters that allow the energy usage of the cooling system to be as low as possible. For this reason, a system working in a low temperature regime was chosen. The examination includes energy and ex… Show more

“…Kıncay and Temir [2] carried out a study on the dimensioning of vertical type ground source heat pump system for a villa. Akbulut et al [3] performed the energy and exergy analysis of the integrated wall cooling system with vertical type ground source heat pump in the Renewable Energy House at Yıldız Technical University. Furthermore, Akbulut et al [4] performed the exergoeconomic and environmental analyses of the integrated wall cooling system with vertical type ground source heat pump used in the cooling season.…”

“…Current trends in the design and operation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning include the increasingly frequent use of low-exergy water-based radiant systems. Installation of such systems can be beneficial due to their suitability for combination with low-grade renewable energy sources such as ground-coupled heat pumps and solar collectors [1,2], the high sensible cooling capacity [3], and the possibility to use the same system both for heating and cooling [4][5][6].…”

“…With this in mind, companies and researchers seek the most efficient and optimized use of energy (Akbulut et al, 2016), aiming to the more intense use of renewable energies, in order to reduce previously mentioned environmental impacts. Solar (Yadav et al, 2014), geothermal (Ratlamwala et al, 2012;Safa et al, 2015), and wind Systems (Li et al, 2013) are used individually or together in hybrid systems in order to reduce the impacts to the concessionaire conventional electricity network and, of course, reducing the costs of those who propose to use such equipment.…”

“…The heat pump performance coefficient depends on the following factors (Jordan et al, 2016;Zhao et al, 2014, Safa et al, 2015, Akbulut et al, 2016: heat source temperature, condenser and water for consumption temperature, refrigerant fluid used, as well as constructive characteristics of the heat pump.…”
