Cognitive radio networks (CRN) have emerged as a promising technology to address the spectrum scarcity problem by allowing unlicensed users to access the licensed spectrum dynamically. The operation process of CRN involves several steps such as spectrum sensing, spectrum decision, and spectrum sharing. This paper provides information on the model and algorithm developed for researching the operation of cognitive radio networks and describes the results of the research. The model is built in the Matlab software environment, and the relevant results of such processes as occupying channels, detecting spectrum holes, freeing channels, adding noise to signals, and suppressing signals in cognitive radio networks are graphically depicted.

Smart Grid systems are generally aimed at solving many problems in energy supply, such as: balancing supply and demand, ensuring grid stability, ensuring reliability of electricity supply, and ensuring a wider integration of different generators and consumers. In order to achieve such goals in Smart Grid systems, the possibility of using modern artificial intelligence techniques, like other technologies, is very wide, and its use plays an important role in solving many problems in Smart Grid systems. This paper provides information on various applications, technologies and methods of artificial intelligence that serve to successfully implement the Smart Grid system. Also, the paper focuses on the characteristics of various artificial intelligence techniques and their importance in the developing energy ecosystem.
