Analysis of mechanical energy losses in marine diesels

Abstract: The object of research is marine diesel engine oils, which provide lubrication, cooling and separation of friction surfaces. The subject of the research is the process of ensuring minimum mechanical losses in marine diesel engines. A problematic point in ensuring the lubrication of the cylinder-piston group and motion bearings is the lack of analytical and experimental studies that establish the relationship between the structural characteristics of engine oils and mechanical losses arising in marine internal … Show more

“…The result of such alloying is the formation of a strong adsorption film on the rubbing surfaces and an increase in the anti-wear properties of the drilling slurry. The content of alloyed components in the total mass of the drilling slurry can be 10-15 %, and their specific gravity exceeds the specific gravity of the hydrocarbon base into which they are introduced [2,3]. The presence of the drilling slurry in a static state during its transportation from the shore to the oil platform leads to the gradual deposition of heavier reagents on the TECHNOLOGY AUDIT AND PRODUCTION RESERVES -№ 1/2(63), 2022…”

“…. Let's note that under all modes and under any conditions of the experiment, the concentration of nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases did not exceed the value determined by expression (1). Thus, the operation of Hyundai Heavy Industries diesel engines 5H17/28 during the experiment was carried out in compliance with Annex VI MARPOL requirements [36].…”

“…On sea and river ships, steam turbine, gas turbine and diesel plants are used as heat engines. At the same time, diesel engines are installed on all ships without exception, regardless of their type, class and deadweight [1,2]. The effective power of diesel engines is used to propel the ship or provide electrical energy to ship equipment, mechanisms and systems.…”

“…The consequence of this is a decrease in the sedimentation stability of the drilling fluid and the formation in the bottom of the cargo tank of sediment from heavy components with which it is alloyed. This leads to increased resistance to cargo pumps (which pump the drilling fluid when it is unloaded from the PSV to the oil platform) and proportionally increases the energy loss to ensure the process of transporting the drilling fluid [9,10].…”
