Analysis of Rainfall Data and Suitable Cropping Systems for Trichy District

Abstract: The rainfall data pertaining to 40 years were analysed and contingent crop plan was developed for Trichy district. The annual mean rainfall was 742.02 mm. The distribution pattern of annual rainfall over the 40 years reveals that in 15 years, it was normal (37.5%) and in 10 years, it was deficit (25.0%). Excess rainfall was recorded in 13 years (32.5%). In two years, the rainfall was scanty (5.0%).
