Analysis of Regional Water Availability for Domestic Water Demand (Case Study: Malang Regency)

Abstract: <p>The fulfillment of water demands needs to consider climate variability impacts on water availability. A seasonal change from wet to dry may have a negative impact on water availability leading to water scarcity for domestic purposes. Therefore, information on water condition until sub-district level is important. We did water balance approach to analyze water condition especially during dry season in Malang district, East Java for period 2007-2016. Our results showed that several sub-districts faced a… Show more

“…The physical and chemical characteristics of cassava flour as well as its functional properties from different cultivars have been reported by some studies (Iwe et al, 2017;Lagnika et al, 2019;Lu et al, 2020;Hasmadi et al, 2020). This shows that cultivar and growing conditions may affect the physical and chemical characteristics of the flour and subsequent quality of the products (Putri & Perdinan, 2018).…”

“…This information is required to calculate the availability of soil water content in the soil, during surplus and deficit conditions. Water balance method has been widely used for calculating domestic water demand in watershed areas (Putri and Perdinan, 2018), identifying root macroscopic parameter (Hupet et al, 2002), analyzing land water balance (Widodo and Dasanto, 2010), as well as analyzing crop water requirements based on their growth phase (Setiobudi and Sembiring, 2009;Sirait et al, 2020). After the calculation, the result is used as the basis for determining the optimum planting time and cropping pattern to achieve maximum potato production.…”

“…River water availability is an important hydrological indicator that influences the dynamics of daily socio-economic activities. In case of Java Island with dense residential areas, the availability of river water is essential because of the highly community dependency to water (Putri and Perdinan, 2018). However, the real condition shows that most of Java's rivers and their wathershed area are in critical condition (e.g.…”
