“…1. The values obtained from the TALYS calculations showed a similar structure, with slight differences in magnitude compared to the experimental values [75,[81][82][83][84]. The slight difference in magnitude was probably due to the use of the default parameters for fission barriers in the TALYS calculation.…”

“…The bremsstrahlung spectrum N(E e , E) corresponding to an incident electron energy (E e ) was calculated using EGS4 computer code [80], as is usually done [68][69][70][71][72][73][74]. The photo-fission cross-sections of 232 Th and 238 U in the sub-barrier region [81] and energy range of 5-18.3 MeV [82,83] are available. Similarly, the photo-fission cross-section of 240 Pu in the sub-barrier region [84] and energy range of 10-30 MeV [75] is also available.…”

“…The bremsstrahlung spectrum N (E e , E γ ) corresponding to an incident electron energy (E e ) was calculated using the EGS4 computer code [75] as usually performed [61][62][63][64][65][66][67]. The photofission cross sections of 232 Th in the sub-barrier region [76] and in the energy range of 5-18.3 MeV [77,78] are available. The available data on the photofission cross sections of 232 Th are inconsistent [76][77][78].…”

The available data on the photofission cross sections of 232 Th are inconsistent [76][77][78]. Thus, the photofission cross-section of 232 Th as a function of photon energy was calculated using the TALYS code version 1.2 [79].…”

“…Neutron-induced fission measurements by Blons et al [11][12][13] indicated a shallow third minimum of less than 0.5 MeV in the 230,231,233 Th fission barriers. However a deep third minimum of ∼ 2 MeV in the 232 Th fission barrier was obtained by Blokhin and Soldatov [14] by analyzing photofission cross sections extracted from data obtained by unfolding bremsstrahlung beams [15]. In light of the experimental evidence of deep third minima in the fission barriers of U isotopes, older 232 Th photofission data [16] was reinterpreted by Thirolf et al [17] to tentatively show a ∼ 4 MeV deep third minimum, roughly equal in depth to the second minimum.…”
