Background: Breast cancer is a common malignancy among women worldwide. With an estimated 2.1 million new cases being diagnosed each year and accounting for 24.2% of all cancer diagnoses among women, it is the most frequent disease in women. Virtual reality-based rehabilitation (VRBR) is a relatively new method that might make it easier to simulate doing functional tasks than conventional rehabilitation. The aim of the study was to compare the effect of Virtual Reality-based rehabilitation program versus booklet-based education on selfcare practices and prevention of complications among women after modified radical mastectomy. Design: A quasi-experimental (Case-Control) research design was used to carry out this study. Setting: The study was conducted at Damanhour oncology center in El-Beheira governorate. Sample: A convenient sample of 100 female patients was included in the study. Tools of data collection: Three tools were used for data collection Tool I: Socio-Demographic characteristics and Health Profile Structured Interview questionnaire. Tool II: Self-care practices of modified radical mastectomy structured interview schedule. Tool III: Early post modified radical mastectomy complications checklist. Result: Virtual reality group has higher mean scores than the booklet group in relation to all the studied dimensions as well as the total score of the self-care practices. The differences are statistically significant in all studied items (P= 0.000), except for some items such as follow-up (P=0.305), pain management (P=0.051), skin care (P=0.722) and proper nutrition (P=0.794). Conclusion: According to the findings of the current study it can be concluded that virtual reality-based rehabilitation program is more effective than booklet-based rehabilitation program in improving self-care practices and prevention of complications among women after mastectomy. Recommendation: The application of virtual reality-based rehabilitation programs after mastectomy should be incorporated into the daily care of post-mastectomy women in oncology centers and hospitals.

Aims. We aimed to investigate nursing students’ spiritual care competence, perceived professional benefit, and retention intention and to analyze the relationship among these variables. Background. Nurse shortages are a global issue, and intern nursing students’ willingness to remain in the nursing profession is important. Spiritual care can reduce patients’ depression and improve their quality of life. Implementing spiritual care can help individuals have satisfying experiences. Perceived professional benefit is a positive emotional experience that is important in retention intention. However, the relationship among spiritual care competence, perceived professional benefit, and retention intention remains unclear. Methods. In this cross-sectional and correlational study, convenience sampling was used to recruit 266 intern nursing students in 10 hospitals throughout China. An online questionnaire was used to assess their sociodemographic characteristics, spiritual care competence, perceived professional benefit, and retention intention. Statistical analyses included the t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson’s correlation analysis, and bootstrap analysis. Results. Intern nursing students’ mean scores were 103.35 ± 19.00 for spiritual care competence, 72.88 ± 10.40 for perceived professional benefit, and 19.58 ± 3.37 for retention intention. Spiritual care competence was positively correlated with perceived professional benefit (r = 0.545; p<0.01) and retention intention (r = 0.149; p<0.05). Perceived professional benefit was also positively correlated with retention intention (r = 0.320; p<0.01). Bootstrap analysis showed that perceived professional benefit completely mediates the relationship between spiritual care competence and retention intention. Conclusions. We found that nursing interns had a moderate level of retention intention, and perceived professional benefit was the mediating variable between spiritual care competence and retention intention. Implications. Our study results suggest that nursing administrators and educators should improve nursing interns’ spiritual care competence and perceived professional benefit to enhance their willingness to remain in the nursing profession and alleviate nurse shortages.

Aim To examine and analyze the level of spiritual care competency among community nurses. Design The study employed a cross‐sectional design. Methods From May to July 2022, 442 nurses from community health clinics were chosen as survey respondents using the convenience sample method. The General Information Questionnaire, the version in Chinese of the Nurses' Spiritual Caregiving Awareness Scale and the Chinese version of the Spiritual Caregiving Competence Scale were used in the survey. There were 442 questionnaires distributed, 422 were collected, and the response rate was 95.4%. Results The amount of spiritual care competencies of community nurses was positively correlated with the level of spiritual awareness. Simultaneously, their level of education, religious beliefs, marital status and the degree of knowledge of spirituality were all influenced.
