Analysis of the Key Mechanisms for Cleaning Infiltration Water From Reservoir Biocolloids

Abstract

In recent decades, the work of water intake facilities, as well as the work of water treatment facilities with the intake of water from the cascade of the Dnipro River Reservoirs, has been significantly complicated by peak, actually catastrophic outbreaks of phytoplankton reproduction, mainly cyanobacteria. To assess the possibility of using infiltration waters of the cascade of the Dnipro River Reservoirs to meet drinking and household needs, the key mechanisms of the process of cleaning infiltration waters from reservoir biocolloids were analyzed. A study of the elastic properties of the filtering medium was conducted using the pulsed ultrasonic immersion method to assess the influence of the parameters of the void-pore space of the banks of reservoirs on the efficiency of water purification from the investigated type of pollution. This made it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of cleaning the infiltration waters of reservoirs from colloids of biological origin, particularly cyanobacteria, as a result of passing through the layer of rocks forming the banks of the reservoir.
