Analysis of the Relationship between Road Accidents and Psychophysical State of Drivers through Wearable Devices

Abstract: A driver’s behavior and their psychophysical state are the most common causes of road accidents. The research presented in the paper proposes a method that allows the identification of highly dangerous road stretches/intersections in advance, based on the localization of stressful/relaxing situations measured on drivers. These were measured through the collection of physiological parameters using wearable devices. A correlation between stressful/relaxing situations and locations with high accident rates, based… Show more

“…Also, it is established that with the change of human`s functional state, the reaction time changes in different road situations, the distribution of attention between different objects of the transport process changes, the probability of erroneous actions increases, etc. [8][9][10].…”

“…The issue of under-announcing isn't remarkable to auto collisions and serious underreporting is available in numerous other incident fields [5]. The revealing issues have been tended to in diverse ways [6]: (I) taking a gander at different information sources, (ii) examining social purposes behind detailing, (iii) assessing administration quality inside experts [6].…”

“…Externalizing symptoms have been found to be associated with anxiety [ 13 ], which is a factor that increases the possibility of traffic crashes [ 14 ], but other evidence supports the fact that internalized symptoms are related to dissociative driving style and fallacies that lead to collisions [ 15 ]. There is a vast literature that addresses emotional behavioral functioning of adolescents after the MVC, in terms of psychological repercussions such as post-collision stress symptoms [ 16 ], depression [ 17 ], anxiety [ 18 ], and the importance of the role of family’s response [ 19 ]. However, the emotional functioning of adolescents before the collision is far less explored [ 20 ] because a certain psychological functioning in adolescents could increase the possibility of being involved in an MVC.…”
