Gamification and game-based learning (GBL) has been widely implemented in educational processes, mainly in elementary education; it has been applied less frequently in university education. The objective was to test the effect of game-mediated teaching strategies on mathematics teaching in first-year engineering students. A quantitative study was done within the framework of a design-based research. Eighty-one (81) students participated in the research, all from the Dif-ferential Calculus course. Twelve (12) didactic units were designed. The instru-ment used was the Synthesized Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (SIMMS), adapted to record the categories of Attention, Relevance, Confidence and Satisfaction (Keller's motivational model). A significant contribution of the pedagogical strategy and the different categories of motivation was verified, whereas the significance between collaboration and motivation was also evident (intervention 2). Finally, the strategy can provide preliminary evidences in reduc-ing dropout. In conclusion, game-based learning can be used to strengthen educa-tional processes in engineering.

Pancasila as the basis and ideology of the Indonesian state is a set of values that become a way of life for the Indonesian state, this condition ensures that the foundation of the state and the practice of national and state life must be based on the values contained in the Pancasila. The main challenges in grounding Pancasila in this globalization era are; decreased intensity of understanding of Pancasila in society, social exclusivism related to the swift flow of globalization so that it leads to a stronger tendency for identity politicization and social fragmentation based on SARA, decreased morality of millennial generation caused by the flow of information and technology that is not filtered properly as a result of the current industrial era 4.0. The efforts made in facing challenges in the millennial generation are fostering the spirit of nationalism, planting and practicing the values of Pancasila and using the internet wisely, building ideas and future visions of a strong young generation based on Pancasila morality.

The development of the nation's character has not shown progress in the progress of its citizens to become more characterized. The phenomenon is that many people's behavior is not by the character imbued with the Pancasila philosophy. This study aims to analyze the program for strengthening character education based on school culture as a strengthening of the civic character of elementary school students. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with data collection in interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman method triangulation. The results showed that the school culture-based character education program is a civic reinforcement for students by familiarizing the main character values in religion, nationalism, independence, cooperation in various school cultural activities. In addition, there is support in the implementation of character education programs as an enhancer of entrepreneurial character in Ngrukeman Yogyakarta Elementary School students, such as adequate infrastructure and teacher training. This paper concludes that the school culture-based character education program as a strengthening of the civic character of students in elementary schools can be implemented with the cooperation of various parties in the school. The recommendations in this article are to explore further the school culture-based character education program, especially in elementary schools.
