Abstract: Traumatic severe brain injury is a fatal injury, with a mortality rate of up to 50%. About 1.5 million people experience severe brain injury in the United States. There are more than 50,000 deaths and 500,000 incidents of permanent neurological sequelae. About 85% of mortality occurs in the first 2 weeks after the injury.
