Anchoring samarium oxide nanoparticles on reduced graphene oxide for high-performance supercapacitor

Abstract: We have synthesized Sm 2 O 3 nanoparticles (SmNs) and anchored them onto the surface of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) through a self-assembly thereof by utilizing a facile sonochemical procedure. The nanomaterials were characterized by means of powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) spectra, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). As the next step, the supercapacitive behavior of the resulting nanocomposites were … Show more

“…The value of both R f and R ct show a decrease after cycling, due to the activation of the electrolyte and the electrode, indicating the electrochemical reaction is more facile at the electrode surface. Z w is the Warburg impedance triggered by the lithium ions diffusion into the electrode phase, in the aspects of ion diffusion path length and the barrier of ion movement …”

“…With the improvement of equipment and nanotechnology, other ways have been built to realize the preparation of RE‐based nanomaterials. Naderi and co‐workers developed a facile and scalable sonochemical method, which was suitable for the synthesis of CeO 2 /RGO [49] and Sm 2 O 3 /RGO [50] nanocomposites. In these works, CeO 2 and Sm 2 O 3 nanoparticles were uniformly anchored on the surface of RGO and promoted self‐assembly process of composites under sonication treatment.…”

“…Carbon materials, such as AC, CNTs, and graphene, are considered as a hybrid composition to improve other active materials due to their exclusive physical and chemical properties, especially their high conductivity and specific surface area [197,198] . Indeed, the composite of RE and carbon materials is an efficient approach to overcome the shortcomings of RE‐based nanomaterials [33,34,49,50,71,73,74,99,126,127,146,193,199–216] . For instance, compared to Sm 2 O 3 nanoparticles, Dezfuli et al.…”
