Abstract:Most eukaryotic DNA is tightly packaged into nucleosomes that render these sequences largely inaccessible for transcription or repair. Molecular motors called chromatin remodelers use an ATP-dependent mechanism to relieve the inhibition of these processes by sliding or disassembling the nucleosomes. This allows them to serve an essential role in the regulation of gene expression and genomic integrity. The sliding of nucleosomes along DNA can be studied directly by monitoring the associated changes in the fluor… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
