Anthropometric parameters to estimate body frame size in children and adolescents: A systematic review

Abstract: Objective To determine the most frequently body frame size (BFS) measurement and to compare the cut‐off values used for classifying body size in children and adolescents. Methods This systematic review focused on primary studies and scientific reports published in Medline Ovid, EMBASE, Web of Science, or Scopus between January 1, 2007 and March 31, 2021. Eligible studies must have included at least one BFS parameter measured in healthy children or adolescents. A descriptive analysis and graphic comparison were… Show more

“…In the last decade, several authors have used the FI to estimate skeletal robustness in child and adult populations (Mumm et al, 2018; Lizana & Hormazabal‐Peralta, 2020; Nikolova et al, 2019; Rietsch, Eccard, et al, 2013; Rietsch, Godina, et al, 2013; Scheffler, 2011). Likewise, a systematic review determined that this index was the body frame size parameter most frequently used in child and adolescent populations (Guzmán de la Garza et al, 2022).…”

“…Anthropometric data are the basic data of national production and development, which play an important role in costume design, health assessment and industrial design to guarantee a healthy and comfortable user experience [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]. Manual anthropometric measurement mainly depends on the experience of the surveyor, whose accuracy fluctuates with different surveyors and whose efficiency is restricted by the surveyor [ 5 ].…”
