Antibacterial properties and electrical characteristics of multifunctional metal composite fabrics

Abstract: In this research, a hollow spindle spinning machine was used to manufacture the multifunctional metal hybrid yarns with stainless steel wire (SSW) as core material, antibacterial nylon (AN) filaments and bamboo charcoal polyester filaments (BC-PETs) as inner and outer wrapped yarn, respectively. The wrapping numbers of produced metal hybrid yarns varied from 8.0 to 15.5 turns/cm. Furthermore, metal composite woven fabrics were fabricated with the metal hybrid yarns as weft yarns and PET filaments as warp yarns… Show more

“…Yu et al used a hollow spindle spinning machine to make multifunctional metal hybrid yarns with stainless steel wires as the core and antibacterial nylon and bamboo charcoal polyester filaments as the sheath. The fabrics made of hybrid yarns were found to have an optimal EMSE of À30 dB when the number of lamination layers was four layers and lamination angle was 90 [8].…”

“…The electrons change the orbit from i = K to i = L, and then back to i = K again. The shifting electrons release energy and enable specified elements for the emission of FIR rays [8] as in Figure 1. When the human body is in contact with FIR rays, the atoms and molecules inside the body resonate accordingly.…”

“…In addition, increasing of the distances between conductive yarns decreased the conductivity of the samples [6]. Yu et al (2016a) investigated the antibacterial activity, surface resistance, far infrared emissivity and EMSE properties of metal composite fabrics. They used hollow spindle technique for producing stainless steel core yarns.…”

“…The International Oeko-Tex Association has developed the Sustainable Textile Production (STeP), which authenticates enterprises that meet environmental regulations and corporate social responsibility [1]. On the other hand, people have more demands for textiles, asking for multiple functions, such as electromagnetic shielding [25], far-infrared (FIR) emissivity [6], antibacterial [79], moisture absorbing [10], flame retardant [11], sound absorbent [12], and thermal insulating [1315] properties. Textile products are indispensable and commonly used as garments and furnishings in our daily life, as well as for industrial purposes.…”
