Abstract: Objective: To review the use of antibiotic prophylaxis in acute necrotizing pancreatitis. Background: Acute necrotizing pancreatitis is a complication that occurs in a minority of patients with acute pancreatitis, but has a high incidence of morbidity and mortality.
