“…These results suggest that HIV-1 gp120-specific antibodies in the serum of infected individuals in this study had cross-reactive ADCC antibodies at asymptomatic stages of infection. These data are consistent with a previous report of cross-clade ADCC activity in HIV-infected individuals 34 and extend this observation, showing that sex does not have an effect on cross-clade reactivity.…”

“…We now show that activation-induced MMP production decreases NKp46 expression on NK cells. We note that it will be useful to corroborate our findings of NKp46 downregulation on NK cells activated through CD16 with studies analyzing NKp46 expression on NK cells activated by Ab-coated HIV-infected cells (40)(41)(42). However, the currently presented observation raises several questions about the role of anti-HIV ADCC, and antiviral NK cell responses in general, in slowing the progression of chronic HIV infection toward AIDS.…”

“…In their study, the one strain-specific anti-HA head Ab (PY102) investigated was inefficient at mediating FcgR binding and ADCC activity; however, more Abs to the globular head of HA need to be tested before clear conclusions can be drawn. Further, a polyclonal anti-HA ADCC response may provide greater ligation of CD16, as seen for HIV ADCC (54). Clearly, a larger subset of anti-HA head Abs needs to be tested to determine their overall potential to mediate ADCC.…”
