Anticancer cytotoxicity and antifungal abilities of green-synthesized cobalt hydroxide (Co(OH)2) nanoparticles using Lantana camara L.

Abstract: Background Green synthesis of metal nanoparticles with pharmaceutical applications is the current focus in the field of nanomedicine. This study aims at use of Lantanacamara L as a source of green reducing agent toward synthesis of cobalt nanoparticles. Results Fe3+-reducing assay demonstrated that Lantana camara methanol extract (LCM) has significant electron transfer potential. Gas chromatography mass spectroscopy (GC–MS) analysis of the crude ex… Show more

“…The medical plant O. sanctum (Tulsi) was used to prepare 110 nm, crystal-shaped Co NPs and evaluated anticancer properties against MDA-MB-231(breast cancer) cell line [160]. Another scientist reported cytotoxicity activity of green synthesized Co OH NPs by using aerial parts of Lantana camara L. extract against HCT-116 cancer cells with an IC 50 value of 25 µg/ml and found reduction in cytotoxicity toward noncancerous VERO cells having an IC 50 value of 200 µg/ml, implying that the particles have selective anticancerous cytotoxicity [161].…”

“…Breast cancer is the leading cancer type in India, with a higher number of cases in urban areas [ 3 ]. There is 1.9% yearly decrease in mortality since 2011, attributed to early detection and advanced therapies [ 4 ]. Persistent disparities reveal a 40% mortality rate among black women [ 1 ].…”

“…However, in most of the mathematical models of biological systems, finding appropriate parameter values presents a problem [8]. Additionally, phytochemical analysis has shown great importance in multiple techniques for the study of treatments and image cases in different scientific problems related to medicine [9,10]. Models of heat transport in the eye have previously been presented in the literature.…”
