Anticancer nanodelivery system with controlled release property based on protocatechuate–zinc layered hydroxide nanohybrid

Abstract: Background We characterize a novel nanocomposite that acts as an efficient anticancer agent. Methods This nanocomposite consists of zinc layered hydroxide intercalated with protocatechuate (an anionic form of protocatechuic acid), that has been synthesized using a direct method with zinc oxide and protocatechuic acid as precursors. Results The resulting protocatechuic acid nanocomposite (PAN) showed a basal spacing of 12.7 Å, indicating that … Show more

“…4), and Korsmeyer-Peppas Model (Eq. 5) [53, 54]. The equations are shown below where k is the corresponding release amount constant, q e and q t are the equilibrium release amount and the release amount at time t , respectively, and M 0 and M t represent the drug (GA) content remaining in the GO nanocarrier at release times 0 and t , respectively.…”

“…22 The Barahuie et al group successfully delivered two anticancer drugs, chlorogenic acid and protocatehuic acid, using modified hydrotalcite. 23 The adsorption capability of HT to single-and double-stranded DNA was evidenced by a previous study performed in this lab, which noted that adsorption was dependent on the conditions of synthesis of the HT as well as on the charge density of both the DNA molecules and the HT. 9 Li et al successfully transfected DNA plasmids encoding the enhanced green fluorescent protein into NSC 34 (mouse motor neuron cells).…”
