Anticonvulsant Agents: Zonisamide

Abstract: Zonisamide (ZNS) is an antiepileptic drug chemically unrelated to other known antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). ZNS has multiple mechanisms of actions which probably explains its broad-spectrum antiepileptic efficacy. ZNS shows favorable pharmacokinetic properties. The rather long half-life of ZNS allows once-daily dosing. No clinically relevant pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamic interactions
