“…Nerolidol (NRD) was identified as one of the major bioactive compounds in essential oils and is a naturally occurring sesquiterpene found in many plants such as Baccharis dracunculifolia (Botelho et al, 2007), Amaranthus retroflexus (Klopell et al, 2007), and Canarium schweinfurthii and is also present in flowers, like neroli, jasmine, ginger lavender, and tea tree (Pacifico et al, 2008). NRD is a leading compound whose metabolites was shown to exhibit antioxidant (Nogueira Neto et al, 2013), antiinflammatory (Fonseca et al, 2016), antidepressant (Campelo, Gonçalves, Feitosa, & de Freitas, 2011), anticonvulsant (Costa, Ferreira, De Sousa, Jordan, & Freitas, 2012), analgesic (De Sousa et al, 2009, and anxiolytic (De Almeida, Costa, de Carvalho, de Sousa, & de Freitas, 2012) properties. There is no report for cardioprotective effect of NRD in ISO induced rats earlier.…”
