Antioxidant Properties of Extracts from Chroogomphis rutillus

Abstract: Chroogomphis rutillus is an ectomycorrhizal edible mushroom available in China. The ethanolic, cold water and hot water extracts were prepared and their antioxidant properties studied. At 4 mg/mL, the ethanolic extract showed a high reducing power of 1.561, whereas those of cold water and hot water extracts were 1.161 and 0.808. With regard to the scavenging ability on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radicals, extracts were effective in the order: ethanolic > cold water > hot water extracts. EC50values for… Show more

“…Additionally, the stipe of S‐1 sample showed higher antioxidant activity than that of the other samples. Values of antioxidant activity in pileus, determined by the DPPH (0.20±0.02–0.26±0.01 mg/mL) and reducing power (0.99±0.03–1.57±0.05 mg/mL) methods, are similar to those reported by Ji et al . Nevertheless, DPPH and reducing power values of the stipe is slightly higher.…”

“…It has been found to have high nutritional value and is very popular with people. However, artificial cultivation of Chroogomphus rutilus is difficult to obtain fruiting bodies . More recently, increasing evidence has indicated that the polysaccharide fractions of Chroogomphus rutilus are acknowledged of bioactive compounds reported about the effects on antioxidant, antitumor and neuronal protection…”

“…The scavenging abilities of 100% ethanol extracts on DPPH radicals have been reported as 86.85-90.54% at 2-4 mg · mL −1 . 6 The antioxidant components may be more easily dissolved in 100% ethanol than in 95% ethanol.…”

“…rutilus was reported to have good antioxidant properties, to have nitrite scavenging effects, and to inhibit nitrosamine formation. 6,7 The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant, hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, and antitumor bioactivities of a 95% ethanol extract of Ch. rutilus (CRE) to evaluate its healthful properties.…”

“…This mushroom has become increasingly popular in China, due to its unique and subtle flavor, and probably the existence of some physiologically beneficial components. Although some studies were carried on the biological characteristic, biosorption of Cu (II) and antioxidant activities of this mushroom [4][5][6][7], little information is available about their nitrite scavenging (NS) and nitrosamine formation inhibiting (NFI) properties. Our objective was to evaluate NS and NFI properties of various extract from Chroogomphis rutillus in simulated gastric conditions.…”
